Refresher Course

Has it been a while since you’ve been scuba diving? Do you feel like your scuba skills and knowledge are a bit rusty? The Refresher Program with Motor City Scuba is just the program you need. It reacquaints you with diving so that you're back to feeling comfortable in the underwater world.

The Refresher Program is designed to update and review the knowledge and skill level of an inactive diver.  This program is also a great catalyst into continuing education programs with Motor City Scuba.

Course prerequisites:

To participate in the Refresher Course, the individual must:

Student divers will need to have appropriate scuba mask, snorkel and fins.  BC, Regulator and Wetsuit will be provided as part of the Refresher course.  Student divers with their own BC and/or regulator system are encouraged to use them and will receive a credit for a system inspection at Motor City Scuba.

Who is this course for:

  • Any Certified Dive that wants to:
    • Update their knowledge and skills
    • Refresh the basics before a trip
    • Prepare for their next course
    • Get an updated SDI certification card

Availability: In Stock

What you can you expect to learn:

You go over scuba knowledge you learned during your initial training. Then, practice fundamental skills in a pool or a confined water area. You will review:

  • Safe diving practices & Dive planning fundamentals
  • Dive Computer Review
  • Proper assembly and disassembly of the scuba system
  • Problem management
  • Confined Water Workshop - Skills Review

Your SDI certification never expires; but if you haven't been diving in a while, it's better to be over-prepared than risk a problem because you forget something important. Dive shops and dive boats also appreciate seeing a recent SDI Refresher c-card (certification card) in addition to your main c-card.

*Scuba diving requires a minimum level of health and fitness. Chronic health conditions, certain medications and/or recent surgery may require you to get written approval from a medical professional before diving.

Avoid disappointment, download and review the Medical Questionnaire to ensure you won’t need a physician’s approval to dive before starting your scuba course. Instructors, Divemasters and the staff at Motor City Scuba are not physicians and should not be asked for medical advice; only medical professionals can give medical clearance to dive.

If you (or your physician) have questions about medical fitness to dive, contact the experts at Divers Alert Network (DAN).
