Intro To Tech
The TDI Intro to Technical Diving course is the perfect course for divers who have heard about technical diving and want to find out more about this exciting branch of advanced recreational diving.
This course walks students through the special techniques, planning procedures and skills that set technical diving apart from traditional sport diving. It will show them how to improve their dive planning methods, in-water skills and streamline their existing gear configuration, in a non-threatening and fun learning environment. The specific skills this course will highlight are:

TDI’s Intro to Tec course is a useful stand-alone course for the diver who wants to become a more skilled, more proficient diver regardless of if he or she intends to move on to technical diving. The Intro to Tec course can also be used to build a solid foundation of skills and discipline upon which to build a future of fun and safe technical diving. Motor City Scuba offers two versions of this course to accommodate your needs.
Intro to Tec Student Prerequisites:
Minimum age 18
Minimum certification as an Advanced Adventure Diver (or equivalent)
Provide proof of a minimum 25 logged dives
Intro to Tech for Sport Divers:
- All personal scuba gear as per SDI quidelines and in addition:
- Finger Spool
- DSMB
- Line Cutting Device
- Wetnotes or appropiate slate
- Secondary Computer
Intro to Tech -Technical Diver Path (Combined with Adv Nitrox):
This version is required to continue on to TDI Helitrox Deco Procedures with Motor City Scuba. This class is geared towards Great Lakes diving and the requirements will reflect that.
- Nitrox certification
- Dry Suit certification
- Course will be completed in a full technical gear setup.
