The Fun Part
The fun part about this course is...well, just about all of it, because learning to scuba dive is incredible. You'll breathe underwater for the first time (something you'll never forget) and learn what you need to know to become a certified diver.
The Scuba Gear You Use
You will learn to use basic scuba gear including a mask, snorkel, fins, regulator, buoyancy compensator, weight system, alternate air source, tank, dive computer, wetsuit and standard accessories. The mask, snorkel, boots and fins will be yours to keep as part of our program.
Learning Materials You Use
Computer-based materials (SDI Open Water Scuba Diver eLearning) cover basic scuba diving skills, terminology and safety procedures using interactive exercises and giving you immediate feedback.
*Scuba diving requires a minimum level of health and fitness. Chronic health conditions, certain medications and/or recent surgery may require you to get written approval from a medical professional before diving.
Avoid disappointment, download and review the Medical Questionnaire to determine if you need a physician’s approval to dive before starting your scuba course. Instructors, Divemasters and the staff at Motor City Scuba are not physicians and should not be asked for medical advice; only medical professionals can give medical clearance to dive.
If you (or your physician) have questions about medical fitness to dive, contact the experts at Divers Alert Network (DAN).
