Rescue Diver

The Rescue Diver Course is designed to develop the knowledge and necessary skills to effectively perform diver rescues and assist and administer the necessary first aid in the event of an emergency.

You will learn skills such as how to perform self rescues, buddy rescues, recognize and calm potential panic divers, administer proper first aid to divers that have experienced dive related injuries, conduct effective search patterns and manage accident scenes.

Learn how to think like a rescue diver through home study and skill practice with an instructor. All Motor City Scuba courses are blended, combining eLearning, classroom and water sessions. The eLearning code will be provided once you sign up - so you can work on it at your own pace.  You will want to have the SDI eLearning complete before your classroom session at Motor City Scuba.  Your weekend of training with a Motor City Scuba SDI Instructor will allow you to practice the rescue skills and then show you how you can effectively apply them in open water.  The FRTI Oxygen Administration course is included with our program.

*Scuba diving requires a minimum level of health and fitness. Chronic health conditions, certain medications and/or recent surgery may require you to get written approval from a medical professional before diving.

Avoid disappointment, download and review the Medical Questionnaire to ensure you won’t need a physician’s approval to dive before starting your scuba course. Instructors, Divemasters and the staff at Motor City Scuba are not physicians and should not be asked for medical advice; only medical professionals can give medical clearance to dive.

If you (or your physician) have questions about medical fitness to dive, contact the experts at Divers Alert Network (DAN).
