Snorkeler
Snorkeling is a great way to observe the colorful marine life just below the surface. Your Motor City Scuba Instructor will help you find the mask that best fits your face and teach you how to adjust and operate you gear- increasing your confidence and comfort in the water!
Snorkeling is a fun activity for families, friends and solo adventures alike, many resorts and dive shops offer snorkeling trip packages to the best locations. Snorkeling isn’t just for tropical beach vacations, you can snorkel in all types of water including oceans, lakes, rivers, quarries, and even pools!
The SDI Snorkeler Diver Course is designed to give students the necessary skills to efficiently snorkel in conditions similar to their training without the direct supervision of a professional.

To enroll in this course, you must:
- Complete the Medical Questionnaire*
- Have guardian’s active participation if 6-15 years of age
- Be accompanied by a parent/guardian for all training if under age 16
- Have written parent/guardian approval if under age 18
Snorkeling is the use of mask, fins and snorkel to primarily swim on the surface while being able to keep your face in the water without having to lift your head to breathe. Periodically you may dive below the surface for a short period of time to exam something closer.
*Snorkeling requires a minimum level of health and fitness. Chronic health conditions, certain medications and/or recent surgery may require you to get written approval from a medical professional before diving.
Avoid disappointment, download and review the Medical Questionnaire to ensure you won’t need a physician’s approval to dive before starting your course. Instructors, Divemasters and the staff at Motor City Scuba are not physicians and should not be asked for medical advice; only medical professionals can give medical clearance to dive.
