Jamie Davis
SDI Instructor
Jamie Davis is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist. His early songwriting compositions were recorded with the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band in 1970, which led to seven albums, performing as the group Davis and Messina from 1972 to 1977. As a solo artist, Davis experienced a string of soundtrack successes, including an Academy Award nomination for "Footloose" in 1984. His favorite dive site is something Italian.
Favorite Piece of Equipment: Garmin Mk3i dive computer because it allows me to track and review my dives and other activies like underwater hocket and underwater golf (one of those is a real sport).
Favorite Dive Site: Milford Sound, New Zealand; where the freshwater runoff sits on top of the salt water creating a thick halcine that when underneath creates a darkness similar to a night dive.
Favorite Class to Teach: SDI Learn to Dive because I get to help students start on their scuba journeys. I also like to tell bad jokes to a captive audience during the treading water test.
